SEEKING 100% EM CHURCH SUPPORT FOR UM ALLIANCE MINISTRIES

Is your church included in the list below??
If so, THANK YOU!!! You have blessed many by your support.

If not, it’s not too late to make a contribution before the fiscal year ends on June 30:

HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS: If the 20 churches not on the list could give an average of $300 each, we would be half way to our goal of ending the year without a deficit and could guarantee the health of our ministries to the homeless and impoverished for another year. If the 70 churches on the list could each give another $100, our goal would be met.

MORE GOOD NEWS: In a recent analysis of our budget we discovered that 58% of our budget is supplied by government grants – in other words, for every $1.00 that we invest, the government provides $1.40. That means that for every one person we can serve on our own, the government funding allows us to serve 1.4 more. That is an awesome return on our investment and provides so many more opportunities to minister to folks in need than we could provide on our own.

THANK YOU for making that investment that multiplies like the loaves and fishes to satisfy the needs of so many more people! And remember that Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).

24 HOUR PRAYER VIGIL

05/31/2008

The Board of Directors of the Erie United Methodist Alliance is once again organizing a 24 hour prayer vigil among the people of our churches to bring the needs of our ministries to our Lord. The prayer vigil will take place on Saturday May 31 from midnight Friday night through midnight Saturday night. Please contact Rev. Bruce Judy at Cochranton UMC at preacherptl@juno.com to request a time slot. Philippians 4:6 tells us “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

WALK FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY

ANOTHER WAY TO SUPPORT THE UM ALLIANCE

Sponsorship opportunity – Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield is sponsoring Walk for a Healthy Community on Saturday, June 14 at 7:45 am at Presque Isle State Park. There is a choice of a 5K or a one mile fun walk. The Second Harvest Foodbank provides a unique opportunity for our ministry at The Refuge to benefit from this fundraiser. We are invited to walk and obtain pledges for our walkers with every dollar we raise going towards the food we purchase through the Foodbank that is not covered by our State grant funding, generally around $800 each year. Please remember that every dollar spent at the Foodbank is worth $17 in food for our clients. If you’re interested in walking or making a pledge to support our staff who are walking please contact Chris or Melissa at The Refuge at 454-6088 or melissa AT euma-erie DOT org. They can help you register to walk or report your pledge so that all proceeds benefit The Refuge account at the Foodbank.
