As of October 28th 2005 The Erie United Methodist Alliance has been designated, by the Erie County Department of Human Services, as the lead agency and central coordinating body responsible for the collection and storage of data on homeless clients served in Erie County PA. EUMA has partnered with Bowman Systems ServicePoint for this purpose.
HMIS-Erie is a web based software application designed to record and store client-level information on the characteristics and service needs of homeless persons in our community.
HMIS explained
A Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is a computerized data collection tool specifically designed to capture client-level, system-wide information over time on the characteristics and services needs of men, women, and children experiencing homelessness.
HMISs are typically web-based software applications that local homeless communities implement to enter and share client-level data across agencies about homeless persons served in shelters or other homeless service agencies.
HMIS allows the aggregation of client-level data across homeless service agencies to generate unduplicated counts and service patterns of clients served.
The purpose and objective of HMIS-Erie:
- Unduplicated Homeless count
- Improve capacity to serve client by coordination of care between agencies
- Use data to inform partner Agencies and community interests
- Streamline data collection and reporting for governmental agencies
- Identify gaps in services
- Use HMIS-Erie data to drive local program policy and design
- Better understanding of homeless and poverty issues
- Annual Progress Report (APR) generation
- Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR) generation
